Dataset corresponding to paper “Motor skills in children with ADHD: Overlap with developmental coordination disorder” Authors: Emily J. Meachon, Julian P. Schaider & Georg W. Alpers Journal: BMC Psychology DOI: 10.1186/s40359-024-02282-8 Contact: Dr. Emily Meachon emily.meachon@unibas.ch Permanent Contact: alpers@uni-mannheim.de The dataset includes N = 168 parent respondents who completed an online survey in German on behalf of their children with ADHD. All cases in the dataset have a child with pre-existing, professionally diagnosed ADHD. Responses to the DCDQ-G (German Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire) include the following: -9 = not answered 1 = trifft gar nicht zu (does not apply at all / not at all like your child) 2 = trifft kaum zu (somewhat applies / a bit like your child) 3 = trifft in etwa zu (moderately applies / moderately like your child) 4 = trifft zu (applies / quite like your child) 5 = trifft voll und ganz zu (applies completely / extremely like your child) The DISYPS-II items have the following codes: -9 = not answered 1 = gar nicht (not at all) 2 = ein wenig (a little) 3 = weitgehend (mostly) 4 = besonders (extremely) Items surrounding diagnoses include the following options: 1 = not checked 2 = checked Where checked items mean the diagnosis is present, or applies to the participant’s child Summed scores for the DCDQ-G and DISYPS-II are included in the dataset. Lower scores on the DCDQ-G correspond to a higher risk for DCD, while higher scores on the the DISYPS-II would indicate higher risk for ADHD Subscale scores for the DCDQ-G are also included as summed values, where lower scores indicate greater difficulty in the domains of the sub scales (control during movement, fine motor skills, general coordination)
