The ZUMABUS is an omnibus survey organized by ZUMA several times each year. The major topics of this investigation are: 1. Questions on the Federal Parliament election 1976, 2. Problems of the status assignment process, 3. Questions on the terms ´security´, ´freedom´, and ´social´, 4. ZUMA standard demography. Topics: 1. Federal Parliament election: political interest; most important problems of the FRG and importance of political goals; preferred and rejected federal chancellor; sympathy scale for the parties as well as for the politicians Schmidt, Kohl, Genscher, Brandt and Strauss; judgement on the government coalition and selected economic and political measures in the past legislative period; attitude to making divorce easier and making pensions equal; judgement on the political influence of large concerns and trade unions; sympathy with strikes; satisfaction with the political system in the FRG; party preference (ballot procedure); party identification; election participation and behavior at the polls in the Federal Parliament election 1972. 2. Status assignment: importance of upward social mobility for children; satisfaction with standard of living; judgement on social justice in the FRG and discrimination of workers and refugees; perception of social differences and class contrasts; attitude to social differences (scale); determinants of upward social mobility; assessment of personal social mobility; expectation of occupational mobility; assumed security of occupational existence; course of training and occupational career; participation in further education courses; age and occupational position of brothers. 3. Associations with the terms ´security´, ´freedom´, ´social´ and assignment of the term ´social party´ to one of the parties. 4. Standard demography: regional and social origins; school degrees of parents; self-assessment of social class; sources of income; characteristics of one´s own employment and that of spouse; detailed recording and encoding of occupation according to the ISCO code system; year of birth; housing situation; religiousness; memberships; local residency. Interviewer rating: type of building; type of city; presence of other persons and their intervention in interview; reliability and willingness of respondent to cooperate, length of interview and time of conducting.
